hasta el gorro de los cenizos educativos

En educación hay dos cosas que están de moda ahora: hablar de Finlandia y decir que la educación no ha cambiado nada en cien años. Las dos cosas me dan mucho por saco.

Finlandia es un país que nada tiene que ver con nosotros. Y sí, claro, podemos y debemos tratar de coger las cosas buenas que tienen a nivel educativo, pero no olvidemos que todo eso viene ligado a un tipo de sociedad que nada tiene que ver con la nuestra, unos impuestos enormes que mantienen un sistema público estupendo, una educación igualitaria que ha calado en la sociedad... Pero también unos índices de violencia de género enormes o un porcentaje de alcohólicos que bien lejos lo quisiera. Cada país es un mundo, acerquémonos a lo que podemos imitar porque sabemos que funciona pero no olvidemos que no todo funciona igual en todos los sitios y el problema tiene raíces mucho más profundas.

En cuanto a lo segundo, os dejo con este vídeo que se está compartiendo mucho en las redes sociales estos días:



Y bueno, a pesar de que estoy de acuerdo con el fondo del vídeo (hay que personalizar en la medida de lo posible la educación y las pruebas externas mal hechas no son buenas), no puedo más que dar un golpe sobre la mesa hartísima de esta demagogia barata.

Muchos profesores innovamos y mucho. Muchos usamos medios audiovisuales, plataformas online, apps, dinámica de grupos, trabajo por proyectos, hacemos otro tipo de evaluaciones, muchos tratamos de conseguir lo máximo de los chicos que tenemos delante. Sí ha cambiado la educación, ha cambiado muchísimo y todos lo sabemos. No solo en las formas, también en el fondo (¿a caso explicamos igual que como nos explicaban a nosotros hace 20 años? NO). En cuanto a sacar lo mejor de un alumno, estupendo, pero si con 8 años no quiere estudiar nada relacionado con la ciencia por los motivos que sean, no le llama, y lo que quiere es dibujar, puede que sea un crack en potencia dibujando pero ¿qué hacemos? ¿le dejamos sin aprender ciencia? ¿Es eso responsable? Por eso la educación reglada no dura hasta los 50 años sino hasta los 16, por eso se les dan pequeñas pinceladas de todas las ramas para que después ellos elijan. ¿Que se puede mejorar? Por supuesto, y en este blog bien que me he quejado de mil cosas concretas mejorables. ¿Que se están cargando las asignaturas más creativas? También, pero no olvidemos que la creatividad está también detrás de un texto o de una prueba matemática y a veces lo olvidamos. ¿Podemos mejorar los profesores? ¡Muchísimo! ¿Pero acaso quedan muchos que anden con la regla y poniendo los libros en los brazos? A mí me revientan los que mandan copiar 100 veces algo, pero ¿cuántos son? ¿Un 1%? ¿Que tenemos demasiados chicos en clase? Claro que sí, pero la afirmación del vídeo es tan general (y tan mundial) que se desdibuja, cuando además ni siquiera habla de ese problema (para mí, uno de los dos grandes problemas: el currículo y el tamaño de los grupos). ¿Que están ahí las pruebas estandarizadas hasta en Primaria? Sí, pero no solo depende de la prueba (no se hace, pero estoy segura de que se podrían diseñar pruebas estupendas), ¡depende de la importancia que nosotros les demos! ¿De verdad explicamos y exigimos lo mismo a todos los alumnos? ¿Acaso ningún profe valora ciertas cosas de unos y otras de otros? JA. ¿En serio alguien cree que las clases son como hace 80 años años? Habrá algún profesor arcaico, pero ¿qué hay de los miles y miles que han cambiado la educación? ¿Que se da lo mismo? Que vengan a una clase de Tecnología de mi compañero Javi o de Dibujo de Mónica, que miren a ver si se enseñan igual las funciones o Jose da igual la anatomía, que pregunten a ver cómo enseña Laura a crear un texto narrativo o cómo Inma tiene a toda la clase debatiendo en inglés. ¿Es mejorable? Mucho. ¿Que aprenden igual? Yo creo, de lejos, que no.

Y ahora me voy a seguir preparando mi proyecto para 2º de ESO, que espero que les guste y aprendan, cada uno a su ritmo. ¡Ah! Y la frase ni siquiera es de Einstein: se dice con diferentes variantes desde hace siglos. El guionista del vídeo podría haberlo buscado en internet, pero se ve que recibió clases a la antigua usanza.

Buf, tienes razón en que el vídeo resulta estomagante. Como todas las simplificaciones, yo creo que al final da argumentos sobre todo a los partidarios de la vuela escuela. Lo que es absolutamente necesario y urgente en nuestro país es reconocer e incentivar esas buenas prácticas de las que hablas, que por supuesto que existen, pero que conviven con otras que ya no tienen sentido, por decirlo de manera suave (¡ya lo creo que hay quien enseña como hace 20 años!). Parece que en los próximos 10 años se van a jubilar masas de profesores, sería una estupenda oportunidad para cambiar las viejas prácticas seleccionando a los nuevos de otra forma. Cuidado, que no estoy diciendo que las viejas prácticas sean cosa de la gente de más edad, no tiene nada que ver.

Estoy de acuerdo, pero dos apuntes: ni hay tantísimos sin innovar (cada año que pasa se hacen más cosas diferentes) ni las "clases clásicas" tienen per se que ser malas (bien que nos gusta una buena charla TED o de Naukas).

Bueno, no he hablado de números ni de porcentajes, no sé cuánta gente innova, supongo que la percepción cambia según lo que oigamos alrededor (hijos, alumnos, colegas), por eso creo que tendría que haber mecanismos para detectar las buenas y las malas prácticas, que coincido contigo en que no son necesariamente las clases "clásicas", igual que algunas innovaciones a veces son chorradas. Cuando hablaba de viejas prácticas me refería más bien a cosas como insistir en la memorización excesiva, ignorar que existen los ordenadores y los móviles, considerar que el profesor no tiene ninguna responsabilidad cuando los chicos se aburren mortalmente, etc. En cualquier caso, gracias por tus reflexiones, creo que son siempre muy acertadas e interesantes.

Claro, si estoy de acuerdo, pero de verdad que creo que el cambio está siendo grande y que no lo es más porque, por ejemplo, apenas contamos con ordenadores en los centros, los que hay son más viejos que los alumnos y en la Comunidad de Madrid, por ejemplo, nos tienen PROHIBIDO permitir el uso del móvil ni con fines didácticos, así que imagínate (lo que hago con el móvil se lo dejo para que investiguen fuera de clase, dentro por desgracia no pueden). Aún así, claro que hace falta autocrítica y bien que la hago por aquí, pero creo que a veces no nos fijamos en todo lo que sí ha cambiado a mejor.

Hablo con las familias, con el tutor, con jefatura, les pido que me digan por qué lo hacen, si hace falta les pongo ejercicios de mates o los dejo a 7a hora si es grave (suele ser jefatura quien lo hace pero apenas me ha ocurrido) y que escriban un texto sobre lo que ha pasado.
